Getting started

  • What do I need?

    A Mac on macOS 26 or later. No account. The speech model downloads once during setup.

  • Which permissions does Oube ask for?

    Microphone to hear you, system audio to hear the call, and optionally Calendar to name meetings. Never full screen recording.

  • I declined a permission. How do I fix it?

    Open System Settings › Privacy & Security and turn Oube on, or run setup again from Oube’s menu.

Recording

  • How do I start and stop?

    Press ⇧⌘R anywhere, or click the notch. Press it again to stop.

  • Can it record calls automatically?

    Yes. Settings › Recording › Automatic Recording: calendar meetings, any call, or both.

  • The notch says “No sound”.

    Nothing heard for 30 seconds. Check the microphone in Settings › Recording and that system audio is allowed.

  • Will people see Oube when I share my screen?

    No. The notch is hidden from screen sharing and screenshots.

Transcripts & AI

  • Where do transcripts go?

    Into Oube, and as Markdown files in the folder you picked. Change it in Settings › General.

  • How do I use them with Claude or ChatGPT?

    Open any meeting in Claude or ChatGPT in one click, or connect Claude in Settings › Connections to search every meeting.

  • Do transcripts sync between my Macs?

    Yes, through your private iCloud if it’s on. Nothing reaches our servers.
